Teaching Their Gifts

We all have those who inspire, teach, and coach us through our careers. Here’s a few players who I have learned from; When I think of bassists who of mine who have inspired my I think of Flea, who’s second to none. And with his own style that includes slap, speed rock while driving the melody, who wouldn’t want to study his style. Jack Bruce is another musician who I listen to and has helped me with growing as a bassist. I always think of his style as a combination of jazz style bass and lead guitar. To listen to him with cream is an amazing experience in that every time I listen to a song like ‘Crossroads’ for instance, I hear something different. And all the while locking in with the kick drum. I have been called a lead bassist by Donna, however, not as a compliment. I’ll have to work on that. John Paul Jones has had a big impact on my playing today with our style of music. He and John Bonham locked in and carried all that rhythm and made it look and sound so easy. And they did it with big smiles on their faces, of course some of that may have been clinically induced. Gotta love Zeppelin!!!
I could go on and on with these incredible musicians and talk about players such as Geezer Butler (black sabbath), John Deacon (Queen), and of course, Steve Fossen (Heart), just to name a few.
These Cats are not only great stylists who opened the door for everyone else, but also assisted in the creation of some of the greatest bands and albums in the world. Gotta go…feelin the need to jam.

Productive Growth And Living

To put it simply, synergy means “two heads are better than one.” Synergize is the habit of creative cooperation. It is teamwork, open-mindedness, and the adventure of finding new solutions to old problems. But it doesn’t just happen on its own. It’s a process, and through that process, people bring all their personal experience and expertise to the table. Together, they can produce far better results that they could individually. Synergy lets us discover jointly things we are much less likely to discover by ourselves. It is the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. One plus one equals three, or six, or sixty–you name it.

When people begin to interact together genuinely, and they’re open to each other’s influence, they begin to gain new insight. The capability of inventing new approaches is increased exponentially because of differences.

Valuing differences is what really drives synergy. Do you truly value the mental, emotional, and psychological differences among people? Or do you wish everyone would just agree with you so you could all get along? Many people mistake uniformity for unity; sameness for oneness. One word–boring! Differences should be seen as strengths, not weaknesses. They add zest to life.

Respect, by webster’s definition-“To consider in high regard.”
I’m very thankful to have such an incredibly beautiful and talented wife who has accomplished so much since I’ve met her. We have envisioned and built a successful business that is manifesting itself in great ways. Thanks to her putting in a lot of hard work and creativity. I definitely hold Donna in high regard.

Head to the Mountains

Been into traditional bluegrass, or mountain music, for about the last 3 months and gotta tell ya; those old timers still set the standard, where I’m concerned. Flatt n Scruggs, Bill Monroe, Jim n Jessie, Ralph Stanley, The Osborne Brothers, The Country Gentlemen, and also Ricky Skaggs, just to name a few, are true stylists that keep a guy like me who, is not a bluegrass player, hanging on every note. To listen to the stories in those songs, to me, are like listening to the old timers at a family reunion talk about the old days. Only the artists tell their stories with incredible, authentic melodies. And sometimes dark melodies, which sets the mood for their stories. I remember as a kid hearing the ‘Will the Circle be Unbroken’ album. I had to have it! I can sing along with them tunes to this day. Traditional bluegrass is the root to American music and is a must listen for everyone.

Proactive And Peaceful Life

Everyone wants success in their life. The American dream with a good Job, career, family, etc is the longing of most people. And as we all know, there is so much, as Donna would put it, “blood sweat and tears” put into a full lived life with the understanding that the journey itself, is in fact, the life we are seeking to live. The only way to make this happen is to live a proactive life. In other words,( live life on purpose). Our good friend and (coach) Michael Burt has built a career teaching people and businesses how to take what they’ve learned and experienced in their life, take hold of writings and teachings from successful people and excel in life. Donna and I, along with our business, are proof that this works. The key is to surround yourself with proactive, successful people. They’re easy to find because they’re at peace. Yes, peace is the effect of a proactive life. You can’t change events that may occur, however, your response during that occurrence, will define you. Cynicism is the effect of a reactive life. This lifestyle has no direction and drifts from day to day making everyone else’s problems theirs. Gossip, bitterness, and anger usually go along with this insecure disposition, with depression always being the end result. Practice proactive living and be at peace. The best way to begin is to put others before yourself. A giving lifestyle will attract other like-minded, proactive people to you. So, in short; if you want peace, live life on purpose. Only YOU can make this happen.
